The Sol is Doing Well

Peru's economy is doing very well, especially when compared to the rest of Latin America and for that matter, the world economy. Of course that means that our dollars are worth less and less there all the time. Our first time in Peru (Nov 2008) a US dollar was worth about 3.1 Peruvian soles. Now the rate is about 2.8. On the other hand, the Argentinian peso in the same time period has gone from 3.4 to 3.9.  Nobody ever accused us of using logic in these where-to-live decisions.

Restocking

I'll put in my two cents worth, (do people still say that?) on what we are doing. After the art sale and my finishing of another a painting, I found that I am out of canvas stretchers and in need of some airbrush paints! How nice to go on line and order the things I need. They're all on sale too!     I also like Larry's picture. Sure wish I had a camera in my computer. :-(

On With It!

OK! So the art show is over. Time to get crackin' on getting everything ready for the big move. What's with this inertia crap? Well anyhow back to the To Do Lists, the Calendars, the Logs - not to mention the throwing-out-of-things-which-never-should-have-been-saved-in-the-first-place! 
A little breathing space has been nice. Our friend Bob was here for a few days on the way to North America to see his beautiful new grandbaby and then to see the adorable Judy who is undoubtedly champing at the bit to get out on the water (really crappy use of the language when talking about a hugely prolific author but WTF!). Then on Sunday we had a fabulous extended let's-meet-for-coffee with our great conversationalist friends G&S (another time we can discuss why they are always to be identified only by initials).
June 1 is the day. Time's awastin!

The Art Show

Art Show week was fabulous. We had a blast planning it and getting Gene's studio ready. There was a really nice turnout on the day of the show so we got to spend some time with friends as well as show off Gene's art. Add to that the fact that we actually sold five of Gene's creations during the week! The pictures above are the ones that were sold. I can hardly wait to get to Lima to do the next show!

The Art Show

All is ready for my Art exhibit show tomorrow. I've sold 4 paintings already and the show is yet to be. It's been a lot of work trying to make our house into a art gallery. Laurie has been putting in untold hours of work taking pictures of the art for a catalog, creating a list of everything that is for sale along with all the details of each piece. I always said that Laurie is my manager!

Where are we so far?

It has been a week since the last post and I think the spamming has stopped. It's been a job setting up for the art exhibition and Laurie has been working so hard getting a catalog of all my paintings. She has been great! The art work on exhibition spans over 35 years of my life!

 

We are still on track overall as we look towards our move to Peru. Everyone asks "Why do you want to move again?, Don't you like living in Costa Rica?" The answer to that can be summed up with "Costa Rica has been good to us,... now we want to live in Peru and we can."

We've started getting spammed on the blog on a daily basis. I had wanted to make it as easy as possible for friends and family to comment on our stuff or to tell us what they are up to. So I did not put any requirements for posting. Thanks to the vicious spammers, you will now have to do one of those goofy "word verification" things when you post.
