These pictures make Miraflores seem much nicer than Siboney. Neater, more varied architecture, even pavement in the sidewalks. Maybe because they don't have quite as many earthquakes. How is the traffic noise. THere doesn't seem to be heavy traffic.
Well Larry I have to inform you about a few things, Peru has had many earth quakes some very serious. The traffic noise on the main street Arequipa is very loud, however our house is tucked away inside the complex so we don't get any traffic noise. Laurie takes good pictures which makes you think that there isn't a lot of traffic. But believe me the traffic is heavy and constant. Arequipa is a very wide street with a nice wide walk way that goes all the way into the center of Miraflores about a 12 block walk. As you can see in some of the pictures there is grass on either side of the walk way and the road, and city workers putting fresh flowering plants along the way. A great walk in the morning!
Front Entrance to the Complex-Our apartment is hidden away behind this!
Our Apartment
for October 2010
How it Got Started
October 2008: "The flight to Buenos Aires has a layover in Lima, Peru," he says. "Peru. How interesting. So we should stop off in Peru for a few weeks, yes?" "Sounds right to me. November 12th OK with you?" December 2009: So that's how the whole Peru experience started out in 2008. We fell in love with the place and here we are back in Lima for a 2-month stay in 2009-2010. After that, who knows? Maybe this will become our next home. September 2010: And here we are on our way back for the 3rd time. We've packed up and left Costa Rica (after 8 years) and are looking forward to finding our next permanent home - in the great city of Lima, Peru!
OK. So it's $2.48 Now
Gene just pointed out to me that "most Peruvians miss the $2 lunch, too. So I recalculated it, based on today's exchange rate. And anyhow, we're back, so we're not missing it any more. We're enjoying it!
While we were in the states, I ordered some of my own fridge magnet creations with photos of fish in the markets (see above). I am happy to say that they are awesome. Now I just need a fridge to put them on!
6 Hello! Click Here to Say Something!:
Looks nice and neat. Mas, esta con fria? It looks cold.
Larry: Si, es un poco frio. En este momento es 61 grados en Lima. Y veo que es 60 en Olympia! (A las ocho en la tarde)
Out on our deck, it's 64 now, but feels a lot colder. I must be getting velho.
