Hi, To help us with trip planning, what was your itinerary when you flew from the US to Lima? And good luck with your apartment hunting. The one you are in looks pretty nice!
Larry: Portland, Maine to Orlando (via Baltimore) on Air Tran. Then the next day Orlando to Houston and Houston to Lima on Continental. Only makes sense if you had bought the cheapest tickets you could find to get multi-destination from San Jose to Orlando to Lima combined with round-trip Orlando to Portland in a determined effort to put the whole thing together to get the trip to see my sister, combined with the medically necessary trip to Florida as part of the "move to Lima" package. I recommend trying every airport combination possible, using Travelocity until you find the lowest priced combination. Also try different days of the week.
Continental will be the obvious way--Seattle-Houston-Lima. That's how I did Seattle-San Jose, Continental through Houston. Madelle has a lot of miles accumulated on United, and I think Continental is a United partner.

Our Apartment
for October 2010
How it Got Started
October 2008: "The flight to Buenos Aires has a layover in Lima, Peru," he says. "Peru. How interesting. So we should stop off in Peru for a few weeks, yes?" "Sounds right to me. November 12th OK with you?" December 2009: So that's how the whole Peru experience started out in 2008. We fell in love with the place and here we are back in Lima for a 2-month stay in 2009-2010. After that, who knows? Maybe this will become our next home. September 2010: And here we are on our way back for the 3rd time. We've packed up and left Costa Rica (after 8 years) and are looking forward to finding our next permanent home - in the great city of Lima, Peru!
OK. So it's $2.48 Now
Gene just pointed out to me that "most Peruvians miss the $2 lunch, too. So I recalculated it, based on today's exchange rate. And anyhow, we're back, so we're not missing it any more. We're enjoying it!
While we were in the states, I ordered some of my own fridge magnet creations with photos of fish in the markets (see above). I am happy to say that they are awesome. Now I just need a fridge to put them on!
