We're almost there...

 The fun of moving in...

Saturday  10;00 AM The delivery of the bottled water, dispenser, and stand arrived and we now have 20 liters of agua and a delivery service for more when needed. Next we are waiting for our bed to come sometime around noon,
Laurie wanting to make some espresso with our new Espresso
machine she found that the electrical outlet was not installed. She talked to Pimpo, the supervisor about this. First he offered to give us a extension cord until they put in the outlet. Laurie said, no way so the next thing we knew the handy man was installing the outlet. One would think that it's working. NOT. When we turned on the unit the over head light came on and the light switch stopped working! Very weird. Armando seemed to know what happened and within a few the outlets were just that and the light switch worked as it should.
Then a little after 12noon the men arrived with our bed and 2 wardrobes. They look great.
Time for lunch and after lunch off to a huge appliance store for a Microwave.
Now some might say, "Big deal so what's so great about all of this?"   We now can sleep, eat, and have cappuccino,  in our newly rented house. Right on schedule! Next a TV.

He forgot to mention that after I nearly lost it over being offered an extension cord to string across the kitchen in lieu of an outlet for my cappuccino maker and microwave, the handyman showed up and installed a ONE plug outlet. This was all AFTER the super had said he would do it "later" because the handyman was busy in another apartment. When I asked if "later" meant this afternoon or next month, he offered the extension cord!!! Amazingly at the end of the day, I have a TWO-plug outlet, a cappuccino maker and a microwave. It's been quite a week.

That sounds very Latin. First, an extension cord. Then, a one outlet fixture. Then, a two outlet fixture. But if you would have been satisfied with option one or two, you would never have gotten to option three.

Sleep well tonight.

Your right Larry a Latin thing. We asked Armando to hang two blinds for us in the bedroom and I thought I would look on. Well the brackets that came with the blinds also had screws and those plastic plugs you put in the wall. Armando drilled 1/2inch holes in the walls then got out a piece of wood and whittled down the wood to a 1/2inch dia. and made plugs which he hammered into the wall. Then he used his own screws to attach the brackets. :-o
But when he was done the blinds looked good. He did it his way.

Yeah, and it only took an hour and a half to hang the blinds that I would have hung in 10 minutes if I had tools and a ladder.

But Laurie, it was his time, not yours. I just e-mailed you a very interesting photo essay from the Los Angeles Times on the highway under construction from Brazil to the Peruvian coast.
